Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the sole celebrity who crossed from country into the mainstream and then to be an international icon of pop culture. Swift removed her roots in the country as though they were part of her skin to reveal that she was arguably the smartest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, someone who was able to harness the zeitgeist make it personal and also perform the reverse. Swift's early hits, especially their neo celebration of Tim McGraw, showed off the talents of her. However, her album Fearless revealed a songwriter who was re-discovering herself and was able to draw a wide audience. Fearless was a huge success not just in America, where six of its singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and You Belong with Me. But it also smashed records across the globe. The Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago consolidated her previous successes, propelling Swift into the spotlight. In the following three years, her fame grew with the release of three albums -three times - Red (2012), Reputation (2014), and 1989 (2014-2015) during which time she entered a new world of pop music with her skills already established. Even though she had slowed her work with folklore and Evermore releases in 2020 she was nevertheless in the forefront of pop music.
